LUC Technologies, an emerging engineering, manufacturing electrical connector company based in Houston, has provided an innovative and improved solution to a major player in the commercial nuclear power industry. Previously this customer was utilizing a fiber reinforced structural epoxy housing as a 7 conductor electrical conduit that transferred electrical power and signals to ensure that nuclear containment is maintained. This construction proved unreliable involving issues of cracks and micro-cracks that resulted from cyclic stresses during use.

LUC Technologies specified Victrex PEEK polymer 450G to provide a more robust connector for transmission of power and data as well as improved reliability. Victrex PEEK is a high temperature thermoplastic that is very resistant to chemical and fatigue environments, has very good thermal stability and exceptional resistance to high exposure of radiation and steam. Victrex has more than 35 years of knowledge in developing and applying novel PEEK polymer based solutions. Full traceability, testing beyond standards and more than 50 quality tests per batch enable performance in the harshest operating conditions.
